Christmas is a special time of the year for every one especially the kids who love making various Christmas crafts and ornaments, Christmas is the best time of the year to allow your kids to experiment be artist and crafty. Making Christmas crafts together with your kids is the best way to spend quality time with your kids, and one of the best ornaments that you can make for Christmas is a Santa Claus mask.

A Santa Claus mask is a easy to make Christmas ornament that you can either wear or use as a Christmas decoration, the mask wont cost you a cent because it can be made from everyday household items, for example the materials that are needed to make the mask include fiber fill, a stapler, pink paper, red paper, yarn, cotton balls, crayons/markers, clue and paper plate.

To make a Santa Claus make you would have to follow the following instructions, first you have to hold the paper plate up to your face then you would have to get someone to draw out lines where your eyes, nose and ears are, you then need to cut out small holes around the lines so that you are able to see and breathe through your mask. You then need to draw a face on the mask based on where you have placed the holes you can start by drawing your eyes where your eye holes are then you can use a black marker on the eyes because this gives it a more realistic look, for the mouth you should use red crayon.

The next step is to make two holes on either side of the paper plate, and then you would have to take the yarn and cut out a piece that is long enough to fix the mask to your face. After this you are now almost through the last step would be to give your Santa a beard, hair and a moustache, to do this you will make use of the small cotton wool fixed is fastened on to the mask with glue, all you need to do is glue as much of the wool as you want your Santa to have around the edges of the mask, with that finished you’ll have finished and the only thing left to do is wait for the glue to dry and your Santa Claus mask will be ready.

Christmas ornaments are easy to make and don’t require much effort or items. They can be made using fabric, ribbon, glass balls, pinecones and many other items. Glue is painted around the ornament and dipped in glitter. After drying the forth ribbon piece is used as a hanger by threading it through the top. A favourable ornament is glass were you can fill the glass with anything you desire for example tinsel and silk flowers.

It involves cutting three pieces of the shape of which two of these are sawn together at the parameter leaving a little space for stuffing. You can sewn on or glue other items on to enhance your ornament.

Pinecones can also be used to make Christmas ornaments. You can roll pinecone in glue and dip it in glitters.

With Christmas just around the corner many families are busy buying decorations for the special event. Most of these decorations are quite expensive and thus some families are unable to purchase some of them. Well there is a way of ,making your Christmas such a memorable event for the young ones and this is by making the young one design on their own some of these Christmas decorations. One decorative object that is quite popular is the Santa Claus mask. Well below is a guideline of how you can make one such mask using simple materials.

In order to make the mask you will need the following; construction paper, glue, scissors, stapler, cotton, thread and magic markers (black and red).

You start by cutting out a triangle shape from the paper which will be Santa’s hat. At the top of the triangle place a cotton ball and then glue it. Color the triangle red and you have created Santa’s hat. Cut from the paper a circle that you will use as Santa’s face, cut out two small circles and paint them red these will be Santa’s cheeks and a smaller red circle which is Santa’s nose. At the bottom end of the circle place some cotton which will be the beard. Draw two eyes on the top. Staple the hat and the face together.

If the mask is to be worn you can cut out the area around the eyes and staple a rubber band from one end to the other so the mask can be worn. If the kids do not wish to wear the mask it can be displayed and they can even add other things such as Santa’s eye glasses. So why not enjoy your festive season with a difference show your kids how to make these decorative ornaments.

Decorating a Christmas tree is easy and fun. Its an activity the whole family can indulge in as a way of bonding and spending time together. Below are the basics to decorating a Christmas tree.

Choosing the tree
It is important to keep your tree fresh. You can place it in water so as to maintain the green of the tree. It helps in bringing out the overall look after the decorating is done.

Christmas theme
Before you shop or make your decorations you need to determine your theme. It could be traditional, social or an ethnic theme. Choosing the theme helps in determining the specific decorations you need and the appropriate colours. Themes can be drafted from the different activities and hobbies that the family indulges in. theme can be extended to a Christmas party as well.

Christmas colour
Your colours are determined by the theme you would have chosen. You can choose your colours with your home décor put into consideration. You wouldn’t want a haphazard colour arrangement in the house. Try to let the tree and its decorations to blend in. for a passive theme choose quiet colours for example a combination of blue and red would do. For a livelier theme a combination of red and green would do. You can play around with other colour combinations.

Christmas tree lights
These bring out the glamour of the Christmas tree. They come in different shapes and sizes and are available in different colours as well. Bulbs can be used that are put together on a string arranged in different colours. These can be put around the tree from the bottom going upwards. Led lights can be used and are more convenient as they do not depend on electricity. These burn for a long period of time and can last for the whole Christmas season.

Christmas nosegays
These are basically items that are put together as bundles or clusters. These can be put in areas on the tree which are left bare when you have put all the decorations you need. These items can be pinecones, flowers or greens.

Follow these easy steps and you can never go wrong on your decorations.
